NURTUREart’s Art Explorers Club is an after school program and our newest initiative with long term school partner PS 147. The art explorers are a group of fourth and fifth grade students who visit local artist studios, galleries, and other creative spaces. With the intent to teach literacy and introduce the students to their neighbors and potential careers in the arts, the Art Explorers Club creates a space for these communities to connect, promoting greater accessibility to the thriving arts neighborhood of Bushwick. These lessons also connect to the standards outlined in the NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Visual Arts as well as Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts.
