NURTUREart is pleased to present the Eliot Lable Education Fellowship positions.
NURTUREart’s Education Program connects artists and curators with students and teachers through partnerships with public schools and non-profit organizations. The program provides art-making experiences to underserved audiences and creates connections to the artistic community, with core activities including in-school residencies, gallery visits, after-school programs and professional development.
The new NURTUREart Fellowship Program is an opportunity for those entering the art education field to gain hands on experience by training and working for NURTUREart’s Education Program. Fellows will work closely with NURTUREart’s Education Director and teaching artists during a commitment of one school year.
Throughout this immersive work experience, fellows will help to foster student learning and quality arts education. Fellows will support programs in action by working with students one-on-one, maintaining an organized learning space, and monitoring supplies. They will coordinate with NURTUREart Education staff in the planning, preparation, and facilitation of programs. Fellows will also assist with the documentation of programs in progress as well as the final work created.
NURTUREart introduces two distinct fellows for the 2015-2016 school year:
The Eliot Lable Gallery Fellowship: The Gallery Fellow will support education activity on-site at NURTUREart’s Bushwick gallery, specifically with the visits and workshops organized for local school classes. Each visit includes discussion and activities, with an opportunity to engage with NURTUREart’s exhibiting artists and curators. The Gallery Fellow will support these visits while training and preparing to ultimately lead group visits. He or she will also assist with assessment of student experience and other program on-site education initiatives.
The Eliot Lable School Fellowship: The School Fellow will support an in-school residency with grades 3-12 at one of NURTUREart’s public school partners. The position will include support to the teaching artist during classroom instruction, working individually with students, set up and clean up, program documentation, and assisting with program assessment. He or she will also assist with displays of student artwork.
The application process for this position has closed.
