NURTUREart’s Education Program in Nicaragua!

NURTUREart is happy to announce a that a group of buildOn high school students from Brooklyn along with our Education Director, Molly O’Brien, returned from a successful trek to Nicaragua! They stayed in a small village called Cacao Numero Tres, where they delivered books, aided in building a school and participated in community art projects. BuildOn is one partner in NURTUREart’s Education Outreach Program.

Books for Nicaragua

The students in buildOn, an extracurricular club that focuses on community service and global education, collaborated with visual artist Steven Ketchum to create bilingual English/Spanish books to distribute during their stay. BuildOn’s Books for Trek program facilitates biannual service trips to build schools in developing countries. During weekend workshops, students learn about their destination’s culture and language, then work with an artist to design and illustrate the book. Professionally printed books are donated to the children during their trip.
